Permanent Lights: Soffit or Fascia?
Where the track goes decides whether the bulbs show from the street. Settle it on the quote, not after the install.
The Two Positions
Fascia mounting puts the channel on the vertical board at the edge of the roof, bulbs facing out, visible from the street. Soffit mounting puts it under the eave, bulbs facing down, which washes the wall and hides the hardware but can hide the bulbs behind the fascia on a house with a deep overhang.
Why It Goes Wrong
A September 2026 BBB complaint against a national installer describes exactly this: “Half the lightbulbs cannot even be seen… the trays used to install the lights are shorter than the fascia which is why the lightbulbs cannot be seen.” The company's answer was that the system was installed “according to the signed contract… mounted under the soffit near the fascia” and offered a quote to move it. What to Settle Before You Sign
Which position, drawn on a photo of your house. Whether the bulbs will be visible from the street at your overhang depth. The bulb spacing. The channel color. And a walk-around at night before you sign off; if the installer wants the sign-off in daylight, ask why.
